Rogia was working as a nurse in the largest hospital in Mukalla City- the capital of Hadhramaut Governorate in Yemen. Her dream job was to become a Respiratory Therapist (RT) and help people facing respiratory illnesses. However, in Mukalla, there were no colleges that offer Respiratory Training. While schools and training centres existed outside the city, violence from the civil war made traveling outside impossible.

In June 2022, IDRF started a six-month respiratory training program to train 100 nurses  in Mukalla City where they could learn without the fear of violence. Rogia and her fellow students will learn to use ventilators, earn a certification and treat patients experiencing respiratory illnesses.

Rogia was so excited when she learned of this new program.

I knew that when I graduated from nursing college, my ultimate goal was to study to become a respiratory therapist. Now I have an opportunity to pursue my dream career and train in the city where I live.
