“Water and food are our daily sources of happiness. I am so grateful because I no longer have to walk long distances in search of water; we have what we need right here.” – Sakina, Kenya

Sakina is an 11-year-old girl from Garissa County, Kenya, where she lives with her parents and four siblings. One of the biggest challenges they face is access to clean water. Every day, Sakina and her siblings would walk long distances to fetch water for their household, leaving them exhausted and with little time to simply be children.

With IDRF’s water supply project, Sakina’s life has changed significantly. She no longer has to walk hours to fetch water. The availability of clean water right in their community has brought immense relief, allowing her family to focus on their well-being.
